About Department

The Department of Home Economics was established on 1 July 1963. The built up area of the department is about 900 sq. ft. With a capacity of 32 students, department offers B.A course at the undergraduate level. The department has produced a large number of graduate students since its establishment.

Department aims to be the centre of excellence by acting as a facilitator for knowledge generation and dissemination to produce self employment, researchers through rigorous theoretical and experimental training. In the recent developments in Social Science , department has been updated with latest equipment available to facilitate the students to have more exposure in nutritional, Textile ,home management, human development field.

Research and teaching are given equal importance by the faculty. Extra care is taken to pay individual attention to the students in their laboratory work sessions. The department is well equipped. The department has its own book-bank with a collection books related to course.

About Us

Bharatiya Mahavidyalaya Amravati established in 1963, is the first educational institution under the management of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir. Four founder members of the society, who were lecturers in different colleges on permanent basis, left their job to work together as teacher with a new mission and purpose. The senior most among the group, Shri AnnaSaheb Vaidya was selected as the first Principal of the college.
Starting with the two faculties of Arts & Commerce, the college over the years has earned the reputation as the first college in Amravati to have all the three faculties of Arts, Commerce and Science under one roof. The college is situated in its own campus at Rajapeth on the National Highway, easily accessible from all parts of Amravati city. The college is affiliated to Amravati University and it offers instruction through English and Marathi medium.
