National Conference on Materials Science : Trends & Future 2014

Short Report

Two days UGC sponsored National Conference on Materials Science: 2014 was held during 10th -11th January 2014 at Bharatiya Mahavidyalaya, Amravati. The conference was organized by Department of Physics, Bharatiya Mahavidyalaya in collaboration with Amravati University Teachers’ Association.

The Inaugural function of the conference was held at Bharatiya Mahavidyalaya, on 10th January 2014 at 10am. Prof. Imtiaz S. Mulla, Emeritus Scientist (CSIR), C-MET, Pune inaugurated the conference. Patron of the conference Adv. Yeduraj D. Metkar, Hon’ble President of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Amravati presided over the function. Prof. J. A. Tidke, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor (I/C), Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati was the Chief Guest. Former Vice Chancellor of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati Prof. Kamal Singh and Dr. F. C. Raghuwanshi, Dean, Faculty of Science, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati were the Guests of Honour. Dr. A. G. Vaidya, Hon’ble General Secretary of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Amravati, Principal Dr. A. J. Gadewar, Convener of NCMS-2014, Mr. N. L. Jadhao, Coordinator of NCMS-2014, Dr. V .S. Kalyamwar, Organizing Secretary were present on the dais.

Inaugural Function

The Welcome speech was delivered by Dr. A. J. Gadewar, Mr. N. L. Jadhao introduced the guest and briefed about the conference. Prof. Imtiaz S. Mulla delivered his inaugural speech. In his speech, he congratulated the organizers for selecting the important topic like Materials Science for the scientific deliberation. He focused on importance of nanomaterials and also on some local and global problems and asked the scientific community to find solutions to these problems. On this occasion a souvenir was published at the hands of Prof. Imtiaz S. Mulla. Prof. J. A. Tidke, Prof. Kamal singh, Dr. F. C. Raghuwanshi, Dr. A. G. Vaidya gave best wishes for the success of the conference. Adv. Y. D. Metkar gave presidential speech. Dr. V. S. Kalyamwar proposed vote of thanks and Dr. D. S. Kulkarni conducted the function.

The Poster Session was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. F. C. Raghuwanshi, Dean Faculty of Science, S.G,.B. Amravati University, Amravati.

All the technical sessions and other activities of the conference were arranged at conference hall, Bharatiya Mahavidyalaya, Amravati. Prof. Imtiaz S. Mulla delivered key note lecture on “Material Science: Trends and Future’.

Invited Talk-I by Prof. Kamal Singh

The first technical session began at 2.15 pm with the Invited Talk-I by Prof. Kamal Singh, Former VC, SGB Amravati University, Amravati. Her topic of presentation was ‘Importance of Advanced Materials and their Characterization’

The Invited Talk-II was delivered by Dr. Bipin Kumar Gupta

The Invited Talk-II was delivered by Dr. Bipin Kumar Gupta, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi. His topic of presentation was ‘Basic of X-ray Diffraction: Structure Determination of Advanced Nano and Bulk Materials’. In the oral session, the research papers were presented.

On the second day, the Technical session began at 09.30am with an Invited Talk-III by Dr. Dattatray Late, National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. His topic of presentation was ‘Two dimensional crystal: Devices for Next Generation Nanoelectronics’.

The Invited Talk-IV was delivered by Dr.Mukesh Pandey, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai on ‘Material Characterization using Raman and Infrared spectroscopic techniques’.

Invited Talk – V was delivered by Dr. Bal Chandra Yadav, Department of Physics, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow. His topic of presentation is ‘Nanomaterials: Synthesis, Characterization and Application’

And last invited talk presented by Dr. D. R. Patil, Head, Department of Physics, Rani Laxmi Bai College, Parola, Jalgaon on ‘Elemental Analysis of Nanomaterials and Fundamentals of Gas Sensors’.

About 130 delegates from different parts of the country and from various institutions have actively participated in the conference. Nearly 12 oral presentations and 70 posters were the highlight of the conference. The photo exhibition received a good response from the students. The best oral, poster and photo presentation were awarded. The feed back received from the delegates were positive. They expressed their satisfaction in the organization and contents of the conference. The scientific deliberation in the conference certainly created awareness regarding Materials Science. New fields of research opened up for budding scientists.

The Valedictory function was scheduled on 11th January 2014 at 04.00 pm. at the conference hall of the college. Dr. A. G. Vaidya, Hon’ble General Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Amravati presided over the function. Prof. S. K. Omanwar, Head, Department of Physics, Sant Gadge Baba, Amravati University, Amravati was the Chief Guest. Dr. D. R. Patil, Rani Laxmibai College, Parola was the Guest of Honour.


Inaugural Ceremony of University Level Student’s Seminar Competition in Physics

Presentation of Seminar topics by Students

University level seminar competition in physics was held on 22nd January 2010 at Bharatiya Mahavidyalaya, Amravati, hosted by Department of Physics. About 97 students from different colleges affiliated to SGB Amravati University participated.

Shri. V. S. Kulkarni, (President, Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Amravati) & Dr. N. G. Belsare, (Head, Department of Physics, Vidyabarati Mahavidyalaya, Amravati) graced the occasion as a guest of honor. Principal Dr. A. J. Gadewar presided over the programme & Prof. N. L. Jadhao gave the introductory speech. The presidential speech was given by Dr. A. J. Gadewar. Anchoring was done by Dr. D. S. Kulkarni & Mr. V. S. Kalyamwar, organizing secretary of this competition expressed the vote of thanks.

One day University Level Students Workshop on “Construction of Regulated Power Supply” was organized by Department of Physics, Bharatiya Mahavidyalaya, Amravati on 3rd March 2013. About 142 students from different colleges affiliated to SGB Amravati University participated.

Dr. F. C. Raghuwanshi (Dean Faculty of Science, SGB Amravati University, Amravati.) graced the occasion as the Inaugurator. Dr. S. K. Omanwar (Head, Department of Physics, SGB Amravati University, Amravati.), Shri R. K. Bijway (General Secretary Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Amravati.) & Shri P. A. Saudagar (Department of Electronics, Brijlal Biyani College, Amravati) were present as Chief Guests. Shri D. N. alias Babanrao Metkar (President, Bharatiya Vidya Mandir) presided over the program & Principal Dr. A. J. Gadewar gave the welcome speech. Mr. N. L. Jadhao gave the introductory speech. Anchoring was done by Dr. D. S. Kulkarni & Mr. V. S. Kalyamwar, organizing secretary of this competition expressed the vote of thanks.


One Day Workshop on Construction of Dual Power Supply

One day University Level Students Workshop on “Construction of Dual Power Supply” was organized by Department of Physics, Bharatiya Mahavidyalaya, Amravati on 29th September 2017. About 52 students participated.

Dr. A. G. Vaidya, Principal graced the occasion as the Inaugurator. Mr. N. L. Jadhao & Dr. P. A. Nagpure, Shivaji Science College, Amravati were present as Chief Guests. Dr. V. S. Kalyamwar gave the introductory speech. Anchoring was done by Ku. Raddha Dhok & Mr. Chetan Wankhade expressed the vote of thanks.
